SiGVee

Name changed currently: Formerly announced as the SiGui, as of 21st July 2023, I have renamed it to SiGVee, thus unifying the dual purpose of my creation – (a) the SiGui for experimenting with my novel approach to introducing harmony & (b) the SiVee as a way to broaden the scope of a traditional Kharaj-Pancham as better interpretation of the Veena Ang.

And the wait is finally over…

After 6 years of research on my prototype (SiGui 1.0e), my SiGui 1.1e is finally ready!

What is it? A Sitar? A Guitar? A “Zitar”?
NO – it’s something different and you’ll hear it soon!

Is it limited to its form of amplification?
No, it could be acoustic and/or electric. Stay connected to find out more.

How did it all happen?
In life when I hit a fork and I chose an unmapped route over another one that is somewhat more familiar…
While it’s not an unplanned pregnancy, it is all about being “pro” creation!

What kind of music/sound?
Other than the classical stream there are a number of other tags like experimental, fusion, world music etc. Currently, for the lack of a better word, I might simply refer to it as music!
I do not feel it necessary at present to formulate or distinguish it into a genre as I have always believed that music in its soul is a universal gift to mankind.

Is it patented?
I feel blessed to be playing on my Sitar, which, by now, may be the development of some exhaustive research dating back to numerous decades if not centuries. In comparison to this, my experiment with the SiGui seems to me like a drop of water in the ocean! So in the same manner as the Sitar is accessible to me without going through the hassles of any patent, it would only seem fair to me that the SiGui be accessible to all generations in the future so that they may research further and develop it whilst growing genuinely in their musical creativity.
Inspite of all the research and development that I have put in so far, I have deliberately chosen not to patent it in view of this vision.
But as I’m not above my human ego, I would not appreciate others taking any undue advantage in this situation. Therefore I’m making this knowledge accessible to the public so that nobody else can be entitled to its patent!
